These Policies have been developed by the Hamilton Swimming Club for the operation of the Swimming Club. Other organisations are welcome to make use of these policies, however, we have arrived at them to suit our own situation. It is strongly recommended that if you use them, then do so as a guide to develop your own policies which will suit your situation.

Hamilton Swimming Club: Policy Statement No 3. (14th October 2003)

FUNDRAISING AND ITS EXPENDITURE

Introduction

Over the last couple of years, the Club Committee has spent some time developing a consistent, transparent policy on how we spend money from fundraising. This statement summarises that policy. The committee welcomes feedback from parents.

Purposes of Fundraising

The club raises fund for two sets of reasons;

This second purpose is very important. A major argument in support of the extension of the Club's lease of the Municipal Pools and in support of grant applications is our proven committment to trying to make swimming accessible and affordable for families.

Municipal Pools Expenditure

Money raised specifically for the Pools is spent on them. Those who have been with the Club for a while will have noticed the many improvements we have made in recent years.

Club activities

Money from fundraising is spent on a wide range of events and activities. It basically subsidises our;
  • Very low membership fee,
  • Learn2Swim tuition,
  • Low coaching fees,
  • Swimmers' development,
  • Swimmers' participation at national meets.
It also enables us to provide families with free "water-time". We provide free access to the Municipal Pools over summer and for winter training. That all has to be paid for.

  • Support swimmers attending national meets See Policy #4 for Grants in Aid
  • Training camps
  • Volunteer development (eg Learn2Swim Instructors), coaching & Learn2Swim equipment, and other children oriented activities (eg certificates)
  • To support other enhanced training/trips etc. for younger swimmers
  • Full club trip away (TBA)
  • Team building (Socials, BBQ's, movies, pizza nights etc) across all squads
  • Coaches courses and training as appropriate
