These Policies have been developed by the Hamilton Swimming Club for the operation of the Swimming Club. Other
organisations are welcome to make use of these policies, however, we
have arrived at them to suit our own situation. It is strongly
recommended that if you use them, then do so as a guide to develop your
own policies which will suit your situation.

Hamilton Swimming Club: Policy Statement No 1. (14th October 2003)
CLUB NIGHTS
The
Hamilton Swimming Club recognises the need to provide swimmers with
opportunities to compete for new / improved times in different events
by way of running regular Club Night meets.

Club Night Objectives
We see Club Nights achieving the following;
- Allow all family / whanua members to have fun, whether competing or not.
- Allows swimmers and parents alike to learn swimming rules
- Gives swimmers the opportunity to compete without high pressure
- Use as a training ground for swimmers and officials alike
- Encourages swimmers to try new strokes and distances
- Encourage development of swimmers towards medal stickers in the certificate system
We seek to do this in a friendly and controlled environment.

To encourage the widest participation in Club Night the following
points system will apply for the Club Nights run during the Summer
Season only;
- One point for competing
- Two points for the event swum
- Five points for improvement in time in each event at Club Night
The points accumulated by swimmers over the summer club nights will
determine the age group / gender awards for Club Night Trophies.

To
provide adequate opportunity for participation the following
frequencies will be aimed for. Allowance needs to be made for
conflicting swim meets, holidays etc.
The
purpose of running the monthly winter club nights is to provide a venue
to compete over winter. It also allows younger swimmers and Learn2Swim
participants the chance for introductory low key competition.
